Week 1 Update
1) Learn Greek – Language training every day: Duolingo, YouTube, send messages
to Greek speakers, watched Netflix Maestro In Blue in Greek w/English subtitles
2) Own investment properties in Europe – Some internet searches about investing abroad. Checked out a development in Athens called Little Athens.
3) Lose 50 lbs - Minus 3 pounds – 47 to go
4) Read one Book a Month – Agent Josephine by Damien Lewis
5) Create Content at least once a week (podcast, YouTube and blogs) – Created Podcast Intro, and Episode 1
6) Become an occasional drinker and become overall healthier – 1 drink at New Years
7) Become a minimalist (purge one household item per day) – Purged about 4 of 7 days
8) Figure out a way to earn $100,000 in a non traditional way – Looked into seasonal work in a rural area
9) Progress as a writer – Journaled every day
10) Become more involved socially. Seek out social opportunities – Booked a play, looked at ‘Meetup’ and Eventbrite for the area, nothing. Maybe the thing to do would be to create events?
Weekly Insights
This was a week of experimentation and 'tweaking.' One thing that I did find interesting is that I had some discussions with some other people making their own lists, and we discovered that it can be difficult to stick to just 10 goals, but this is a critical piece. Understanding that having your efforts watered down over too many goals means that you won't make meaningful progress on most of them. The reason to limit your goals is so that you can achieve things, remove them from the list, and then add other goals to the list.
There is only so much you can do at once. Be kind to yourself, and realistic.
And hey, if you decide that made a mistake in prioritizing your first 10 goals, swap them out, but do not add more. I have already made some changes, but they were more about amalgamating goals. Could I combine goals 3 and 6 with the overarching: 'Become overall healthier?' Probably. But until I lose some more weight, I would argue that weight loss it is a priority on it's own, and I will swap it out for the more general goal once I achieve a healthy weight.
Bonus Insight
The key point to me this week was just to start making decisions and start exercising my action muscles. Apparently I am a bit of a weakling in the decision making area! If you want to hear more about this and some insights that helped me move forward, check out the week 1 pod.
Ok wanderers, I hope to see you out there and back here. Remember, we aren't lost, we are just doing some map making.
