I really screwed that up......

1)     Learn Greek - So this week I continued with Duolingo, but I fell off my work in the Greek workbooks and watching Greek shows. And you can tell. Duolingo is not great. It is good for some vocabulary and the basic idea of sentence structure and some verb endings, but it will never be enough to be good at any language. Also the gamification can have unintended consequences. I will be doing a blog about that for sure.

2)        Own investment properties in Europe - This was a bad goal and is not in line with what I need to do to get to where I want to go. I will be modifying this this week.

3)        Lose 50 lbs - This has been fine. No real change in weight, but I have been moving everyday and incorporated spin classes. This goal should change as well. Something so specific is not good. We need understand the cause and not the result.

4)        Read one Book a Month - This is easy for me. I read two books: Agent Josephine by Damien Lewis and Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich. I think this goal should change from read a book a month to : Read continuously.

5)        Create Content at least once a week (podcast, YouTube and blogs) - I crushed this. I did two podcasts, a blog, an instagram account and we launched the site. This is so easy for me because creating content for this project is based on my natural passions. I should also modify this goal to better reflect not a number but a habit.

6)        Become an occasional drinker and become overall healthier - So this should probably eat goal 3. I have not had a drink and I am generally feeling healthier in almost every aspect. I did go to the physio and that was very helpful.

7)        Become a minimalist (purge one household item per day) - So I sucked at this, but I did spend a lot of time trying to figure out what I can do without. I even went through an exercise to see if we could do without our second car. I am actively looking for things to sell or purge

8)        Figure out a way to earn $100,000 in a non traditional way - So this goal is interesting. I did look into doing some paid online AI training, but I also realized that I need to concentrate as much on eliminating my monthly expenses as much as I need to need to boost my income. So this week I will be savage in reducing my monthly expenses.

9)        Progress as a writer - I have been writing and journalling every day. This has been good. Just getting into the habit of having my pen flow regularly.

10)  Become more involved socially. Seek out social opportunities - I didn't do enough for this this week. I will spend more time this week either finding opportunities, or creating them.

The lesson for this week is that goal setting is complicated. I have to change, amalgamate and re-work several of my goals completely. Too specific and you set yourself up for a shame spiral when you don't meet the goals, but not specific enough and you don't progress in the way you should. Finding a balance is difficult, but just beginning is the key, and modifying after that will happen fast and often. We will see if that settles down as the weeks progress and I'm able to dial in the right way to articulate my goals.
